Gilbert Mbeo, MD is a distinguished quadruple board-certified physician specializing in Neurology, NeuroIntensive Care, Interventional Pain Management and Traumatic Brain Injury. 

With over 15 years of experience, he has dedicated his career to providing evidence-based, high-quality care to patients with acute neurological conditions, including acute stroke, neuromuscular respiratory failure, status epilepticus, and brain and spinal cord trauma.

As the Founder and Medical Director of the Brain, Spine, and Pain Institute of Lake Nona in Orlando, Florida, Dr. Mbeo has realized his vision of establishing a state-of-the-art facility that employs cutting-edge interventions to enhance neurological recovery in brain-injured patients. His firsthand experience as a NeuroIntensivist exposed him to the profound impact of brain injuries, such as head trauma and strokes, which often result in severe disabilities despite advancements in modern medicine. This experience fueled his commitment to improving patient outcomes through innovative treatments.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Mbeo is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), the Society for Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), the Neurocritical Care Society (NCS), and the Clinical Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Society (CTMSS).He has also contributed to the medical community through publications in national and international journals.

Dr. Mbeo’s educational background includes a Doctor of Medicine degree. He completed his residency in Adult Neurology at Drexel University College of Medicine/Hahnemann University Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident. He further specialized through fellowships in Neurocritical Care at Emory University School of Medicine and in Interventional Pain Management at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Throughout his career, Dr. Mbeo has been recognized for his excellence in teaching and patient care. His accolades include the UMMC Department of Neurology Golden Reflex Hammer Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Mississippi Organ Recovery Association Spero Physician Champion of the Year Award, and the Drexel University Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Mbeo has been honored with induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
